After completing his BFA in 2016, Tyler was recruited as an animator for the Polish feature-film Loving Vincent. During his year abroad, he immersed himself in Europe's art museums, drawn to study and copy the works of the Old Masters. This reverence for tradition culminated in Tyler's completion of Grand Central Atelier's core program in 2022, where he subsequently taught drawing in the core program for three years. His work today demonstrates a facility and concise legibility that is unique to hand and eyes honed for truthful observation, informed by the drawing language of the European Masters. Currently Tyler lives and works in Massachusetts where he teaches drawing at the New Salem Museum of Art.

“My paintings are a meditation of people, nature, and their relationship to one another. I work from life and memory, creating objects of art that are records of felt experience as much as they are poetic arrangements of line and color. My intention is to create works that exist at the intersection between vulnerable specificity and sublime universality; works that do not insist upon themselves, but instead invite an introspective silence.
