Jules Boho was born and raised in a small village and skiing area in the Bohemian Forest in Upper Austria — far from the art world, but never far from a pencil. Drawing since childhood, art has always been her passion.
She went to a college for graphics and communication design, building a career as a graphic designer and art director before making the leap into tattooing in her early twenties. That background in visual composition and design thinking never left her — it lives in every line she draws on skin. Since 2015 she runs her own studio and atelier in Linz and travels around the world to pursues her dream of artistic freedom and breathing in other customs and cultures.
Her tattoo style is as hard to pin down as she is: abstract, watercolor and painting-like, with vibrant color work alongside refined black and grey. Illustrative yet grounded in realism, her work sits somewhere between fine art and skin — and that tension is exactly where she wants to be.
Beyond tattooing, she creates powerful paintings in oil and mixed media. On canvas, her artistic vision unfolds at full intensity — from socially critical works and bold feminist statements to expressive portraits. Her paintings are metaphorical in nature, processing themes of identity, femininity, freedom and the weight of social conventions. Her artwork was shown in museums and gallery exhibitions in Linz and Vienna and she also collaborated with different brands like paprcuts in Berlin.
Jules has taken her work around the world, tattooing in studios and at conventions across Thailand, Colombia, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, the USA and throughout Europe — collecting convention awards along the way. A lifelong backpacker, she has also lived in New Zealand and Vancouver, Canada, and carries the restlessness of someone who is equally at home on a remote beach, underwater on a dive, or navigating a foreign city for the first time.
