Summer Classes with Lucas Bononi
-
11 AM to 4 PM
An extended long pose session designed for deeper immersion into the figure. The longer format allows artists to develop drawings and paintings with greater structural clarity, sensitivity to light, and refinement of edges, transitions, and surface relationships.
Students receive individualized guidance throughout the day, including demonstrations, critiques, and discussions on perception, painting methodology, optics, and the relationship between realism and abstraction.

6 PM to 9 PM
This class offers the opportunity to work from sustained still life setups, alla prima studies, or independent personal projects within a focused atelier environment. Students are welcome to pursue still life painting, portraiture, figure work, or other ongoing projects while receiving individualized guidance, critique, and technical instruction.
Instruction investigates structure, light logic, optics, spatial organization, and the interaction between color and form. Whether working directly from observation or developing a personal body of work, students are encouraged to deepen their understanding of material behavior, atmosphere, abstraction, and visual sensitivity.
The class is designed not only to strengthen technical ability, but also to support each artist’s creative journey through sustained study, thoughtful feedback, and a deeper engagement with perception and process.
-
6 PM to 9 PM
A sustained figure drawing and painting class centered on anatomical structure, form construction, proportion, gesture, and the behavior of light across the human body. The same pose is maintained over multiple weeks, allowing artists to progress from block in to increasingly developed and resolved work.
Instruction emphasizes the figure as a living spatial structure rather than symbolic anatomy, helping students understand the body through planes, rhythm, compression and expansion of shape, edge relationships, and optical transitions.
